How are the claims being submitted?

The claims must be placed either in written form or verbally. In any case, the first name and surname, the ID card number (DNI) address of the party placing the claim or complaint as well as his or her signature must be recorded when placing the claim.
The claims must be accompanied by documents and any evidence to support the claim.
Any claimant wishing to place a claim verbally must request, in written form, an interview at the Citizenship Ombudsman's Bureau. The claimant must also explain in the application form the reason for his claim or complaint.
He may not place any claim that is related to an issue that has taken place more than 1 year ago since the affected person has become aware of the situation that has resulted in the complaint. However, whenever the actions to be initiated are ex officio, no time limit applies.
The complaints may be presented in person, by ordinary mail or via e-mail. According to the selected method of presentation, the complaints or claims will be accepted by the municipal register offices (UIAPs) or by the  Citizenship's Ombudsman Bureau itself.
